Safety glass, of course, is a type of glass commonly used in doors and windows but with many other applications. Safety glass has a long and storied history, as the most common original type of glass was very dangerous (especially in automobiles). Today’s consumers take safety glass for granted and many government regulations require it.
Here in the great state of Florida, with our risk of hurricanes and inclement weather, safety glass is often the glass of choice. As the #1 safety glass manufacturer, we receive many calls for it, from Miami to Jacksonville, Tampa to Orlando and everywhere in between.

Our prices are second-to-none, and whether we’re “near you” or not is immaterial, as we ship and supply glass throughout Florida.
Safety glass (laminated glass or tempered glass) is made by bonding two pieces of glass together with a middle core made of plastic that is commonly polyvinyl butyral. The middle plastic prevents the glass from breaking or separating when shattered and thus increases the safety effect. Tempered glass differs from laminated glass, but we won’t get into that; just know that we know the difference and can manufacture safety glass to your spec’s.

Safety Glass: Factoid
Safety Glass is a “catch all” terminology for different actual types of safety glass. What it means is that it is less likely to break, and if it does, it typically does not break into dangerous, sharp pieces. Common designs include toughened glass (also known as tempered glass), laminated glass, wire mesh glass (also known as wired glass) and engraved glass. Wire mesh glass was invented by Frank Shuman. Laminated glass was invented in 1903 by the French chemist Édouard Bénédictus. These four approaches to the manufacture of glass can easily be combined, allowing for the creation of glass that is at the same time toughened, laminated, and contains a wire mesh.
